Part of the past flew into Paso Robles this week with the arrival of a World War IIera Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, North American B-25 Mitchell and North American P-51 Mustang.
The planes flew to the Paso Robles Municipal Airport from Camarillo, arriving around 2 p. m. Wednesday. They are part of the Collings Foundation’s annual Wings of Freedom Tour, which is taking the historic planes to 110 cities this year.
The nonprofit foundation raises money for the planes’ restoration and upkeep through proceeds received from people taking rides. Cost for the outings ranges from $325 to several thousand dollars, depending on time in the air and type of aircraft. The planes can be toured for a fee of $12 for adults while still on the ground.
The planes will be on display in Paso Robles today. For more details, visit www.collingsfoundation.org .
