What is it?
The centerpiece of the 26th annual Paso Robles Wine Festival is the Saturday afternoon tasting in City Park on Spring Street between 11th and 12th streets. About 90 vintners will show off their wines. Food vendors and producers of local olive oil, cheese and bread offer food to complement the wine. Many local wineries celebrate with special events, tours and tastings all weekend long.
How do I get tickets?
There are three levels of festival tickets: reserve ($125), premium ($75) and admission ($55). Reserve tickets include a wine tasting from 4 to 6 p. m. tonight and early 1 p. m. admission for the Saturday tasting. Premium tickets include wine tasting from 1 to 5 p. m. Saturday. Admission tickets cover tasting from 2 to 5 p. m. Saturday.
Advance tickets can be ordered at www.pasowine.com until noon today or at 239- 8463 until 5 tonight. On Saturday, admission tickets only will be available at Santa Lucia Bank, 13th and Spring streets, starting at 11:30 a. m.
Tickets for children over 2 years old are $15.
Where do I park?
Parking will be available at the Paso Robles Event Center, 24th Street and Riverside Avenue, from 11:30 a. m. to 5:30 p. m. Saturday. A free shuttle will take visitors to and from City Park. Parking is also available on downtown streets, but visitors must obey all parking signs and be sure not to block driveways or fire hydrants. Parking is usually available around Robbins Field in the 600 block of Pine Street.
Parking for the disabled will be on Park Street between 10th and 11th streets.
How does the tasting work?
Tasting is unlimited, but pours are supposed to be one ounce per taste. Festival organizers urge visitors not to request a larger pour and “to practice the four S’s of responsible tasting: swirl, smell, sip and spit.”
Tickets for designated drivers are $15, which include four nonalcoholic beverages and entry to the tasting and picnic areas.
