I am having my bar mitzvah in October 2009 when I turn 13, and I want to do a charitable project that helps me “repair the world,” something I believe God wants us all to do.

I love baseball almost more than anything, so I wanted to do something that would combine baseball with a charitable cause. I decided to have a Hit-a-Thon to raise money for the Dodgers Dream Foundation to buy Major League baseball tickets for underprivileged kids.

My Hit-a-Thon will be in Templeton on the Fourth of July, right after the parade, at the Templeton Middle School baseball field at Eighth and Main streets. Templeton Little League is donating its pitching machine, and kids can have people sponsor them to get as many hits out of 15 as they can. (Kids under 6 can use a tee.)

All tax-deductible pledges will go to the Dodgers Dream Foundation. So to step up to the plate and support my Hit-a- Thon, come out to Templeton after the parade on July 4. If you can’t make it but still want to contribute, you could mail a check to Dixon’s Hit-a- Thon, P. O. Box 1356, Templeton, CA 93465.

Thank you for helping me!
